A few years back PGS had the world’s fifth largest corporate owned compute capability. Today we maintain a strong position, and PGS has vast amounts of High Performing Computing (HPC) equipment now being consolidated in Houston Texas. We have moved over 130 business application servers into the cloud, there is still a great potential. We are in the process of moving our High Performance Computing capabilities into the cloud. That means shifting some 10.000 servers to the cloud.
The Technology & Digitalization department is seeking dedicated individuals looking to take there skills to the next level and join our HPC DevOps team at our Houston offices. We are a close team who value teamwork and collaboration working in a multi role of project and support using automation and the DevOps model to cycle out repetitive issues and deploy new software.

Responsibilities:
- Using established industry best practices, project management techniques and internal quality methodologies install and maintain PGS computer systems.
- Participate in the global support team installing and maintaining hub, vessel and remote site systems and peripherals.
- Maintain customer communication and problem information using the service management tool
- Interact with vendors and suppliers for after sales support of hardware and software.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement, implementation, and monitoring of the Quality Management System; its policies, processes, procedures, and related documents.
- Implement CI/CD pipeline tasks and participate in deployment using Orchestration tools.
- Out of hours support will be required either as part of a rota or in exceptional situations.
- Ensure adherence to and fulfillment of HSE and QA requirements.
- Any other reasonable task requested by management.
Formal qualifications:
- A Computer Science related Degree or equivalent industry experience and a few years relevant working experience is expected. We would like you to have competence, experience, or knowledge in several of the following disciplines:
- Operating systems: CentOS Linux, Linux Kernels
- Computer Hardware: Intel/AMD x86 architecture/maintenance
- Application Software: Suite of PGS processing software
- Filesystems: Parallel Filesystems (Lustre), XFS, ext2/3/4, ZFS
- Storage: Disk Subsystems, Storage Area Networks
- Cloud: (Azure/GCP/AWS) experience
- Programming experience: Bash, Python
- Networks: Administration
- Provisioning tools (Xcat, Ansible)
- Administration: System Documentation, Change Control, Report Writing, Offshore Certification
If you do have some prior experience with HPC environment, Containerization and knowledge with DevOps disciplines such as GitLabs and CI/CD it will be beneficial.
As our new HPC DevOps Engineer we expect you to ensure a good working relationship with all key stakeholders related to the role in addition to demonstrate a fluency in English, both orally and written. You must be legally authorized to work in the USA to apply for this position. You will work closely with business units across PGS as well as external contractors, suppliers, vendors and customers.
The position is office-based in Houston, Texas. You will be required to travel to other PGS locations.
